NVIDIA Launches Cosmos 3 World Model and Isaac GR00T Platform at GTC Taipei
NVIDIA has officially released its Cosmos 3 physical AI world foundation model and the Isaac GR00T humanoid reference platform at GTC Taipei, directly integrating Chinese robotics hardware like the Unitree H2 Plus.

NVIDIA’s deepening footprint in physical AI reached a new milestone on July 1, 2026, with the official launch of the Cosmos 3 world foundation model at the GTC Taipei keynote. The release, which spans cloud-to-edge deployment scenarios, was paired with the debut of the NVIDIA Isaac GR00T humanoid reference platform—a full-stack hardware and software ecosystem that notably integrates Chinese robotics hardware, including the Unitree H2 Plus.
The announcement underscores a critical transition in embodied AI: the shift from isolated algorithm development to standardized, simulation-backed physical interaction reasoning.
A Unified Architecture for Physical AI
The Cosmos 3 model represents NVIDIA’s attempt to standardize how robots understand and predict physical environments. Unlike traditional large language models, Cosmos 3 is designed specifically for robot simulation training, digital twins, and physical interaction reasoning.
By covering the entire deployment spectrum from cloud infrastructure to edge devices, the model provides developers with a continuous pipeline. A robot can be trained in a physically accurate simulation powered by Cosmos 3 on cloud servers, and then deploy the resulting inference models directly to edge computing hardware in the real world.
This architecture addresses one of the most persistent bottlenecks in robotics: the "sim-to-real" gap, where behaviors learned in simulation fail when confronted with the friction, lighting, and unpredictability of real physical environments.
The Isaac GR00T Reference Platform
Alongside the software foundation, NVIDIA introduced the Isaac GR00T humanoid robot reference platform. Rather than building its own robot body, NVIDIA has opted to provide the computing and software ecosystem while partnering with established hardware manufacturers.
The initial reference design integrates three core components:
• Body: Unitree H2 Plus humanoid robot
• Manipulation: Sharpa five-finger dexterous hand
• Compute: NVIDIA Jetson Thor platform
By selecting the Unitree H2 Plus—launched the very same day—NVIDIA is signaling strong confidence in the maturity of Chinese robotics hardware. The inclusion of the Sharpa dexterous hand further indicates a focus on fine manipulation tasks rather than just gross motor movement and locomotion.
NVIDIA has released a complete open-source software stack to accompany the hardware platform, making it immediately accessible to both academic researchers and industrial developers.
Strategic Implications for the Robotics Ecosystem
The dual release of Cosmos 3 and Isaac GR00T reveals NVIDIA's strategy to become the indispensable infrastructure layer for the embodied AI era, much as CUDA became the standard for machine learning.
For Chinese robotics manufacturers like Unitree, integration into the NVIDIA reference platform provides a massive credibility boost and immediate access to global developers who build on NVIDIA software. For the broader industry, the availability of a standardized, open-source reference platform lowers the barrier to entry for developing humanoid applications, potentially accelerating the transition from laboratory prototypes to commercial deployments.
The GTC Taipei announcements also follow a busy June for NVIDIA, during which the company deepened partnerships with South Korean conglomerates including SK Hynix, LG Group, and Doosan Group, further solidifying its position at the center of the Asian robotics and AI supply chain.
