DESCRIPTION
Aerones Wind Turbine Blade Maintenance Robot is an Industrial-Robot from Aerones. It is built for Cleaning, Coating, Painting. Key figures: released 2023.
Aerones' modular robotic system services wind turbine blades without rope-access technicians on the blade. It is raised along the stopped blade from the turbine, and its interchangeable tools clean blades and towers, prepare the surface, remove old leading-edge protection tape, apply primer and filler, sand, and coat the leading edge, repairing level 1 to 3 leading-edge erosion before it progresses. Further modules test lightning protection systems, inspect drainage holes and apply ice-phobic coatings. The whole kit travels in one van and is usually run by three Aerones technicians working from a vehicle at the base of the turbine. Aerones says the robots work about five times faster than people, can operate in winds of up to 15 m/s against about 9 m/s for rope teams, and cut turbine downtime by four to six times, widening the repair season. Coatings include AkzoNobel's Relest system, and inspection data flows into Aerones' cloud platform for maintenance planning. The leading-edge repair system was unveiled in January 2023.
