DESCRIPTION

Teledyne Gavia Osprey AUV is a Marine from Teledyne Marine. It is built for Mapping, Research, Search-And-Rescue. Key figures: 400 kg, 1440 min runtime.

The Osprey AUV is built on the proven Gavia modular design but with a larger 324 mm (12 3/4 in) diameter, making room for more energy and bigger sensors and taking the depth rating to 2,000 m. It uses the Teledyne QuickLock mechanism and Teledyne Vehicle Bus for its fully modular construction, and the same Gavia software and chart-based graphical user interface. It is up to 5 m long and up to 400 kg in air depending on configuration. Each lithium-ion battery module holds 4.4 kWh; a typical configuration runs for over 24 hours at 3.5 knots with two modules, up to three can be carried or batteries swapped in the field, and top speed is over 5 knots. Other features include an efficient, low-noise rim drive thruster, a removable data pod, enhanced obstacle avoidance with a BlueView M900 collision-avoidance sonar, and an Exail DVL-aided INS with a Teledyne RDI DVL, with optional USBL. Sensor options include synthetic aperture sonar, side-scan with gap fill, multibeam (Teledyne RESON T20), sub-bottom profiler and cameras, and modules can be bought later as missions evolve. Commercial: pre/post construction support and pipeline inspection. Defence: mine countermeasures, rapid environmental assessment, search and recovery, sonar training. Science: oceanography and marine archaeology.
