DESCRIPTION

Kongsberg HUGIN Edge is a Mobile Robot from Kongsberg Maritime. It is built for Mapping, Research, Surveying.

HUGIN Edge is the smallest and lightest member of the HUGIN family: a mid-size autonomous underwater vehicle four metres long, built around a low-drag wet-flooded carbon monocoque body that Kongsberg calls unique in its class. It keeps the navigation performance the family is known for while cutting the logistics needed to run it, and collects high-resolution data without in-mission supervision. It is autonomous by design: launch and recovery, charging and data offloading can all be done without a crew, whether from shore or over the horizon, and it can be delivered with uncrewed surface vessel launch and recovery systems. Mission planning is goal-based, using AI to organise a mission around objectives rather than long waypoint lists, and it replans in mission using its own sensors. Payloads include side-scan or next-generation synthetic aperture sonar for high-resolution imagery and bathymetry, an ultra-high-frequency multibeam echo sounder and a magnetometer, with a flexible payload bay for low-light colour cameras with strobe or sub-bottom profilers. It also offers terrain navigation, pipe and cable tracking, target recognition and reacquisition, full post-mission analysis and fully encrypted security options, for commercial survey through to advanced defence operations.
