DESCRIPTION
Dragon Runner 20 is a Military from QinetiQ (Foster-Miller). It is built for Reconnaissance, Inspection, Remote. Key figures: 9 kg, 180 min runtime, 4.5 kg payload.
The Dragon Runner 20 (DR-20) is the larger of QinetiQ's two Dragon Runner small unmanned ground robots, built by the US business that grew out of Foster-Miller. It is designed to support small dismounted military units, law enforcement and first responders on reconnaissance, security, inspection and IED missions, letting the operator work from a safe distance while the robot goes into sewers, drainpipes, vehicles and buildings. The tracked DR-20 weighs 9 to 11.8 kg depending on configuration, so it can be hand-carried or packed in a rucksack. Its manipulator arm has a rotating shoulder, wrist and grippers and can lift up to 4.5 kg, which lets it inspect and interrogate suspect objects. Four cameras give day and night views at the front and rear plus day views to the left and right on a quad video display, and an on-board microphone provides audio. The robot reaches 6 km/h, runs for 3 to 4 hours depending on the mission and is operated from a wearable controller or the UC-LITE controller at line-of-sight ranges beyond 650 m. It is IP65 rated. Optional payloads include disruptors, RSTA cameras, two-way audio, a fibre-optic control tether and hazmat sensors. The smaller Dragon Runner 10 (about 5 kg) can be thrown and fits in an assault pack.
