DESCRIPTION

The MVC8 Komodo is DOK-ING's CBRN machine — the one sent in when the hazard is chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear rather than explosive. It is a 17,000 kg tracked vehicle, 7.2 m long, 2.3 m wide and 2.9 m tall with 0.34 m of ground clearance, limited to 30 km/h and controlled at line-of-sight ranges up to 1,500 m. Its CBRN mission module decontaminates objects with the robotic arm, personnel through a decontamination shower and surfaces with a front tool attachment, and can partially decontaminate itself through nozzles distributed over the machine. A sensor bundle carries CRN detection modules, temperature, oxygen and explosive-gas sensors, lidar and a meteorological station, and it collects solid, gas and liquid samples automatically. The front exchangeable tool — a blade and gripper of 1,200 kg — opens its claws to 1.8 m, rotates through 360 degrees, pushes 10 tonnes and lifts 2,000 kg. The rear manipulator arm lifts 990 kg at up to 4 m of outreach. Propulsion is hybrid.
