The First Bay Area MixC Tech Festival (首届湾区万象科技节), held at Shenzhen Bay MixC from June 18 to 21, 2026, turned one of Shenzhen's premier retail districts into the largest free, public-facing robotics showcase China has seen to date. Over 20 domestic tech brands including Honor, Engine AI, ULS Robotics, UBTECH, and DJI demonstrated humanoid robots, exoskeletons, and drones to tens of thousands of ordinary shoppers. The visual centrepiece: a towering 6-metre bionic "Mechanical Girl" art installation that went viral across Chinese social media within hours of the festival opening.

Unitree Got a Standing Ovation the Night Before Congress Tried to Ban It
Congress introduced a bill to ban Chinese humanoid robots as a national security risk on June 3, 2026. On June 2, eight of them got a standing ovation on NBC in front of millions of Americans. Simon Cowell said "insane, nuts, but brilliant." The audience cheered. Congress has now introduced legislation to ban a product that America just voted to advance on its most-watched talent show. DJI never had this problem. Neither did TikTok.

Washington Just Locked Its Door to Chinese Humanoids, and Unitree Was Standing on the Porch
The FCC on July 28 barred new Chinese humanoid and quadruped robots and connected power inverters from the US equipment authorizations they need to be imported or sold, effective immediately upon publication. Already-authorized models stay legal for now. The move blocks Unitree's planned August North America launch and formalizes the robot trade's split into rival blocs.
