DESCRIPTION
MOTORE is a Medical-Robots from Humanware. It is built for Rehabilitation. Key figures: 360 min runtime.
MOTORE (MObile roboT for upper limb neurOrtho REhabilitation) is a portable, battery-powered haptic robot for upper-limb rehabilitation, used for the arm after a stroke and for post-traumatic, post-operative and cognitive recovery. Developed by Humanware with the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, it is a wireless mobile device on wheels with no linkage: the patient rests the arm on its rotating support and grips its handle, and the robot moves across a table surface, supporting the weight of the arm. Its motors sense the forces the patient applies and assist, follow or resist the movement as needed, acting as a force multiplier even for patients with severe hypotonia and adapting quickly to spasms; the maker reports that it reduces spasticity. Software games for motor control, coordination, cognition and daily activities motivate the patient, while forces, accelerations and speeds are recorded for objective assessment and clinical scales. It responds to forces below 0.5 N, exerts up to 50 N over a 1,200 x 800 mm workspace with 0.4 mm accuracy, and runs 6 hours per battery; it comes with an electrically height-adjustable table, a dedicated PC and two batteries, and is a CE-marked medical device suited to tele-rehabilitation.
