Luna EMG is EGZOTech's robotic device for upper- and lower-limb neurological and orthopaedic rehabilitation, an all-in-one kinesiotherapy system for training and assessment. Its signature feature is EMG-assisted movement: electromyography detects even the slightest muscle activity and uses it to trigger robotic assistance during the movement, so even very weak patients (0-5 on the Lovett scale) can train actively. Predefined protocols cover training and assessment, with EMG biofeedback, EMG-assisted movement, continuous passive motion, active-resistive training and measurement of muscle activity, force, range of motion and proprioception. It is used for neurological patients - after stroke, traumatic brain or spinal cord injury, and with Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, motor neuron diseases or muscular dystrophy - for early orthopaedic rehabilitation after surgery or injury, at the bedside in intensive and palliative care and with immobilised geriatric patients, and with children. Released in mid-2015 as EGZOTech's first robot and certified under Directive 93/42/EEC and EN 60601-1, it has been delivered to more than 350 sites worldwide, according to the company.
