DESCRIPTION
InMotion ARM is a Medical-Robots from Bionik Laboratories. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Rehabilitation, Robot-assisted upper-limb (shoulder/elbow) neurorehabilitation. Key figures: released 2018.
InMotion ARM is BIONIK's robot for shoulder and elbow rehabilitation after stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions or injuries. The patient moves a handle across a planar workspace while following therapy games on a screen; the robot senses the patient's movements and limitations and gives real-time Assistance-as-Needed, so even patients who cannot yet move actively can take part, and it records kinematic and kinetic data for objective evaluation. Evidence-based protocols allow over 1,000 movements per session (1,024 potential movements) for motor planning, eye-hand coordination, attention and visual-field deficits and massed practice. The new generation launched in 2018 has a 40% smaller footprint than its predecessor, a redesigned, simpler software interface and wireless report printing. It is a Class II, 510(k)-exempt medical device listed with the US FDA and carried a CE mark, and InMotion robots trace back to the MIT-MANUS research robot first developed at MIT in 1989.
