DESCRIPTION
MAKRO plus is a Mobile-Robots from Inspector Systems. It is built for Data Collection, Research, Inspection.
MAKRO plus is a prototype multi-segmented, cable-free service robot for maintaining hard-to-reach waste water systems, developed in the MAKRO research project with partial funding from the German research ministry BMBF and tested under real operating conditions in the sewers of Siegburg. Its flexible body snakes through pipes, with ball joint modules between the drive units for sharp bends, branches, steps and obstacles. The symmetrical robot carries two battery packs, a PC 104 computer, two head modules and two docking stations for tools. After a few metres the WLAN link drops and it works fully autonomously, using laser and infrared sensors and re-planning its route around obstacles. Modules measure waste water pH, conductivity, oxygen and temperature and record pipe gradient and direction.
