DESCRIPTION

The MagicDog is MagicLab's consumer and research quadruped, and the company's claim for it is a specific one: the industry's first quadruped robot with integrated head motion. That extra head degree of freedom is the whole point — it takes the total to 13, and it is what lets the machine express something rather than merely walk, which MagicLab pairs with an intelligent emotion engine handling voice, vision and touch together. Physically it is compact, 67 by 35 by 56 cm standing and folding to 29 cm crouched, at roughly 17 kg including battery. It moves from standstill to 3.0 m/s, climbs steps of about 18 cm, and carries around 5 kg with a maximum near 10 kg. An 8,200 mAh 29.6 V pack gives about two and a half hours of continuous operation. Perception is unusually complete for the size: LiDAR, binocular and depth cameras, a 4K HD camera, a fisheye camera and ultrasonic sensors, with integrated touch sensors and a circular microphone array.
