DESCRIPTION
The ACTIVE Shuttle is Bosch Rexroth's autonomous mobile robot for moving small load carriers around a plant. It drives under a dolly, lifts it on a platform and takes it where the order says — replacing the tugger-train and hand-pulled-trolley traffic between the warehouse and the line. The vehicle is 1,013 mm long, 405 mm wide and 913 mm tall, and weighs 88 kg empty. Its lifting platform measures 612 by 235 mm, rises between 118 and 135 mm, and carries up to 260 kg — dollies up to 600 by 400 by 1,200 mm. It travels at up to 1.0 m/s, on gradients to 2.5 per cent forwards, or 6 per cent with a reduced load. Navigation is laser-based against natural landmarks, with a SLAM algorithm fusing laser and odometry, so no reflectors or floor markings are needed: a first manually driven lap builds the reference map. It parks to within 100 mm normally, and to plus or minus 5 mm where optical track guidance is fitted at a source or destination. Safety is layered for mixed traffic — PL d safety laser scanners front and rear for personnel protection, a front safety scanner and an inductive sensor for dolly detection, and two stereo cameras giving 3D obstacle detection that catches loads protruding into the path. A 10.1-inch touchscreen sits on top. A 51.8 V, 29 Ah, 1,502 Wh lithium-ion battery charges from 20 to 80 per cent in an hour and seventeen minutes, automatically at a docking station. Fleets run on the ACTIVE Shuttle Management System, which handles order allocation, traffic control, a live map and energy management, and connects to host systems over a REST API, WebSocket or SocketIO in JSON.
