DESCRIPTION
Spot is Boston Dynamics' agile four-legged mobile robot, built for dynamic sensing and industrial inspection. It walks terrain that wheeled robots cannot - stairs, gratings, rubble and slopes to 30 degrees - and is quick to deploy for both manual operation and autonomous missions. The robot weighs 33.8 kg with its battery, stands 610 mm at its default walking height (adjustable from 520 to 700 mm, dropping to 191 mm sitting) and measures 1,100 by 500 mm. It moves at up to 1.6 m/s, climbs 300 mm steps and handles slopes of plus or minus 30 degrees. It is IP54 rated and rated from -20 to 55 degrees C. Terrain sensing gives a 360-degree horizontal field of view out to 4 metres, works down to 2 lux and maintains a set distance from stationary objects for collision avoidance. Connectivity is 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi plus Ethernet. The 564 Wh battery gives around 90 minutes of running, 180 minutes of standby and recharges in 60 minutes. Spot carries 14 kg of payload and exposes a robust API with full development documentation, so it can be configured for a specific job rather than only the pre-configured inspection, research and hazardous-response packages. Boston Dynamics sells an integrated Arm for mobile manipulation, plus payloads and accessories, as add-ons to the same robot.
