The E1 is Shenhao's quadruped for power inspection, and the argument for legs here is specific: substations, pipe gallery tunnels, traction substations and IDC machine rooms are full of steps, cable trays and thresholds that stop a wheeled robot but not a walking one. It builds its own map and plans its own route using 3D LiDAR fused with inertial navigation, then works around the clock without anyone present. What it carries matters as much as how it moves: a dual-spectrum gimbal pairing a 30x optical zoom visible camera with a 640×512 thermal imager accurate to ±2°C, plus a microphone and optional gas sensors, so a single pass captures meter readings, switch and indicator states, pressure plate positions, equipment heating, abnormal sound and gas. Shenhao positions it explicitly as a replacement for high-risk repetitive manual inspection rather than as an addition to it. It walks at up to 3 m/s and carries 20 kg.
