DESCRIPTION
ProGrasp is an End-Effectors from DeeDee Labs. It is built for Material-Handling, Rehabilitation, Helping.
ProGrasp is a motorised, multi-articulating myoelectric prosthetic hand from DeeDee Labs for people with below-elbow amputation. Its size and shape are based on Indian hand anthropometry, and it has soft fingertips for better grip. Conventional myoelectric hands read two electrode sites and need a mode change, an app or an external beacon to switch between grips. ProGrasp instead uses a multi-EMG sensor module that reads muscle signals from several sites on the residual limb. When the user performs an intended grip, the resulting signal pattern is decoded by a pattern-recognition algorithm, which selects one of four essential grips directly, with no mode change or app-based configuration. The system consists of the motorised hand with built-in sensors and controller, an EMG processing module, micro electrodes, and a battery module with charger; components are designed to be easily replaceable, and the company says it can be fitted even in low-resource settings. The design won the CII Design Excellence Award and India's Best Design Project award in 2020, and the hand was showcased at the OPAI conferences in 2018 and 2020.
