DESCRIPTION

Omnipallet is GEBHARDT's robot- and shuttle-based pallet storage system, which brings the shuttle technology long used for containers and cartons to pallets. Its bidirectional robots are not tied to one rack aisle, as a pallet stacker crane is, and do not need a parent vehicle, as conventional pallet shuttles do; many small robots move independently through the rack structure, so storage can be single- or multi-deep in any combination, with or without pallet conveyors, for pallets, mesh boxes and large load carriers. Software routes the robots by the shortest path - even two-way traffic or trips under occupied channels - while preventing deadlocks, and connects to many warehouse management systems. Ultracaps charged in the rack power the robots, so there are no conductor rails or long charging breaks and they run 24/7, and a mechanism with fewer motors keeps the tare-to-payload ratio at about 1:4. SEW-EURODRIVE uses Omnipallet at its electronics plant.
