DESCRIPTION

MAXIO is a Medical-Robots from Perfint Healthcare. It is built for Guidance, Medical-Assistance, Surgery. Key figures: 5 degrees of freedom.

MAXIO is an image-guided, physician-controlled stereotactic robot from Perfint Healthcare that works alongside a CT scanner. It positions and orients an instrument guide so that a physician can advance needles and ablation probes accurately during CT-guided percutaneous procedures in the thorax, abdomen and pelvis, most notably tumour ablation. The system consists of a floor-standing stereotactic device with a five-axis arm (X, Y, Z, A and B) of sub-millimetre and sub-degree accuracy, planning software on a computer and a respiratory gating system. It is rolled to either side of the CT table and docked to a floor panel using Perfint's InstaReg registration. CT images are sent from the scanner, and the physician segments tumours and no-go regions and plans paths for up to six instruments in 2D and 3D, with estimated ablation volumes. At a click the arm moves into position and holds the guide while the physician advances each probe by hand; intra-operative registration checks placement, and post-procedure registration verifies coverage. MAXIO uses sterile single-use grippers, needle guides, stabilisers and drapes, works with DICOM 3 CT images and supports radiofrequency, microwave, irreversible electroporation and cryo ablation. It has US FDA 510(k) clearance. Perfint reports installations at RZhD-Medicine clinical hospital in St Petersburg, the 175 Military Hospital in Vietnam and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
