Mobius Bionics LUKE arm system - shoulder configuration

DESCRIPTION

LUKE Arm Shoulder Configuration is a Medical-Robots from Mobius Bionics. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Rehabilitation, Helping. Key figures: 4.7 kg, 10 degrees of freedom.

The LUKE Arm Shoulder Configuration is the version of Mobius Bionics' LUKE prosthetic arm for shoulder disarticulation (little or no residual limb). It weighs 4.7 kg and has 10 powered degrees of freedom: shoulder flexion/extension, shoulder abduction/adduction, humeral rotation, elbow flexion/extension, wrist pronation/supination, compound wrist flexion with ulnar/radial deviation, and four hand axes. It is the only commercially available prosthesis with a powered shoulder, letting a shoulder-level amputee reach over their head, and it offers end-point control: the user simply chooses which way to move the hand in space and the arm moves several joints at once to get it there. An optional internal battery can be used alone or together with the external battery to extend usage time.\nThe LUKE hand has a powered thumb, powered index finger and combined powered middle, ring and pinky fingers that conform to objects in six pre-programmed grips, from a power grip for bottles to a tool grip that leaves the index finger free to work a trigger. The arm can be driven by surface EMG electrodes, pressure or rocker switches and other industry-standard inputs, or by Mobius' own wireless IMUs worn on the shoes, which turn foot tilts into joystick-like commands; speed is proportional to the input. A grip-force sensor can drive a vibrating tactor on the socket, it resists light rain and fine dust (IP52), and it is fitted by a certified prosthetist for adults 18 and over to help with activities of daily living.
