EndoQuest Flexible Robotic Surgical System (endoluminal and single-incision surgery platform)

DESCRIPTION

Endoluminal Robotic Surgical System is a Medical-Robots from EndoQuest Robotics. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Surgery. Key figures: 7 degrees of freedom.

EndoQuest's Flexible Robotic Surgical System, which the company calls the world's first flexible robotic surgery system, is designed for endoluminal and single-incision surgery performed through the mouth, anus or vagina or through one incision at the navel, so procedures need few or no external incisions. Planned procedures include endoscopic submucosal dissection, myotomy, endoscopic gastroplasty and fundoplication, tonsillectomy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, prostatectomy, nephrectomy, rectal resection and hysterectomy. A mobile patient cart with a positioning arm and removable touchpad places a flexible, steerable EndoDrive, whose channels carry two 6 mm flexible robotic instruments with up to 7 degrees of freedom for triangulation, a 3.7 mm high-definition robotic videoscope, and insufflation, suction, irrigation and third-party accessories. At the ergonomic physician console the surgeon watches a heads-up HD monitor and works hand controllers and foot pedals that move the instruments, EndoDrive and videoscope and fire the electrosurgical unit. The instruments are designed as multi-use for cost effectiveness. The system is under development and not FDA-cleared.
