The Surfer S1 was Aiper's first move above the waterline and its first solar-powered product, extending the company from submerged cleaners to complete pool care. A roof-mounted solar panel keeps it charged continuously, with a Sunseeker algorithm steering it towards light; DC charging is available as a fallback. Propulsion comes from a paddle-wheel driven by brushless motors, chosen for durability because there is no brush contact to wear out, and the design pulls floating dirt and debris into a 5 L debris basket - large enough that it does not need emptying every few days. Ultrasonic detectors recognise the pool walls and steer away from them, which both protects the skimmer and the pool surround and lets it work closer to the edges for genuine edge-to-edge coverage.
