DESCRIPTION

xLink Robotic Arm is a Research-Robots from Motiv Space Systems. It is built for Data Collection, Exploration, Material-Handling. Key figures: released 2020.

xLink is Motiv Space Systems' space-rated modular robotic arm system, built by the team behind the Perseverance rover's robotic arm. It combines the flight hardware and methods from that Mars arm with lower-cost technology from Motiv's RoboMantis ground robots, so dexterous arms can fly on missions without nine-figure budgets. Its building-block design scales from about 1 m to 3 m and from 4 to 7 degrees of freedom, from single components to complete systems, and Motiv says a custom version can be integrated in as little as six months. It is aimed at on-orbit assembly, satellite capture and servicing, and planetary work on the Moon and Mars, and was selected to help assemble a solar array on NASA's OSAM-2 mission.
