DESCRIPTION
UMSV is a Military from Sagar Defence Engineering. It is built for Navigation, Reconnaissance, Search-And-Rescue.
The UMSV (unmanned marine surface vehicle) is Sagar Defence Engineering's line of aluminium-hulled unmanned boats, run by the company's Genesis control system. The same system is also fitted to existing manned craft to convert them into unmanned or autonomous vessels. Operators can drive the boat directly by remote control, have the control unit hold a commanded heading, or load a waypoint track that the vessel follows on its own at a set speed, compensating for wind and tide. Further modes include hovering on a point by dynamic positioning, staying inside a defined area or away from danger zones, and following another vehicle at a set station, for example running ahead of a ship as a mine-detection lead or sitting above a submerged vehicle as a communications relay. Collision avoidance uses fixed chart data or AIS, and on loss of communication the boat returns to a preset location or stops. The operator software shows live video, AIS and electronic charts, plots the track and logs data. Payloads include optical cameras, AIS receivers and towed or hull-mounted hydrophone arrays for hydrographic survey, coastal and harbour surveillance, offshore metocean data collection and rescue work.
