DESCRIPTION

Seasats Lightfish is a Security from Seasats. It is built for Data Collection, Mapping, Reconnaissance. Key figures: 138 kg, 29.9 kg payload, released 2023.

Lightfish is Seasats' flagship small uncrewed surface vessel: a solar-electric monohull with a hybrid power reserve that stays at sea for up to six months and covers about 8,000 nautical miles at 5 knots. At 138 kg it fits in a pickup truck and can be launched by one or two people by hand; a weighted keel makes it self-righting and it operates in Sea State 6. It carries five HD cameras, AIS and GPS, with Iridium and Starlink links and onboard AI for edge processing and target classification. Payloads of up to 29.9 kg bolt on and swap in minutes, with base, security, hydrographic and environmental packages, and the vessel is command-and-control interoperable with collision avoidance, GPS-denied navigation and redundant communications. Lightfish has been in service with US Navy and commercial customers since early 2023; one crossed the Pacific from San Diego to Japan over 150 days and 7,500 miles in 2025 and another crossed the Atlantic for the US Navy the same year. The US Marine Corps is buying it under an US$89 million-ceiling Navy SBIR Phase III contract.
