DESCRIPTION
TMV-X is a Mobile-Robots from DFKI Industrials. It is built for Exploration, Inspection, Monitoring. Key figures: 16 kg, 3 kg payload.
The TMV-X (terrestrial monitoring vehicle) is a leg-wheel hybrid rover from DFKI Industrials for monitoring in difficult outdoor environments. Its four star-shaped leg-wheels climb steps and rubble, and a sealed housing makes it waterproof. It weighs 16 kg, measures 0.935 x 0.56 x 0.5 m, carries 3 kg of payload and reaches 2 m/s with a 3 km range on two 32 V lithium-polymer packs. A Velodyne HDL-32E lidar (360 degrees, 70 m range) builds 3D maps, a stereo camera on a tilt head provides video for teleoperation and close-up inspection, and an Xsens IMU and RTK-GPS give orientation and position. An optional omnidirectional 'bird view' camera shows the vehicle and its surroundings from above for the operator. It is teleoperated over a video link, with telemetry on an 868 MHz long-range radio and sensor data over WLAN; the on-board quad-core PC pre-processes sensor data and builds partial 3D maps. An autonomous version, TMV-A-X, adds waypoint navigation with local obstacle avoidance.
