DESCRIPTION

SenseRobot Chess is a home robot that plays chess on a real board with standard 3D pieces. A camera above the board reads the position, and a four-axis robotic arm with a gripper picks up and places the robot's own pieces with millimetre-level positioning. The board and pieces are magnetic, so a nudge does not disturb the game. The built-in engine offers 25 fixed levels from Elo 200 to 2900, and an online Apex Duel mode plays at Elo 3200. For training it carries 25 beginner courses, more than 1,200 exercises, 145 endgame drills and 100 classic games that the arm replays on the board while the robot explains them by voice. It gives up to three hints and three takebacks a game and flags illegal moves. A 5.5-inch screen shows the clock and game state, and the robot speaks English, German and French. Over Wi-Fi it can play opponents on Lichess.org, sync game records to the SenseRobot app and take firmware updates. The robot measures 570 x 470 x 385 mm and weighs 5 kg with board and pieces, on an aluminium frame in an ABS shell, and runs from a 36 W mains adapter. It went on sale in China in September 2024 and internationally from April 2025, and lists at US$999 (regular US$1,299).
