DESCRIPTION
RVR+ is an Educational-Robots from Sphero. It is built for Education, STEM and computer-science education. Key figures: 120 min runtime, 1 kg payload, price $339, released 2022.
RVR+ is Sphero's most customisable programmable robot, a drive-out-of-the-box tracked platform for middle and high school classrooms, makerspaces and robotics programs, released in November 2022 as an improved RVR. Its redesigned gearbox gives 78% more torque than RVR for a payload of up to 1 kg and 30 degree climbs, at a top speed of about 1 m/s, and all-terrain treads handle grass, dirt, gravel and pavement. On-board sensors include an enhanced colour sensor, ambient light sensor, infrared sensors and an IMU with accelerometer and gyroscope. Students start with Draw, Blocks or text coding in the Sphero Edu app and move on to JavaScript, Python and the Sphero Public SDK; a customisable expansion plate, a 5 V USB power port and a UART port let it carry and power Raspberry Pi, Arduino, micro:bit and littleBits hardware for projects such as autonomous vehicles and delivery robots. A swappable rechargeable battery gives about 2 hours of driving, and the robot measures 185 x 216 x 113 mm (70 mm high without the roll cage), controlled over Bluetooth up to 10 m away.
