DESCRIPTION

ROBOHELPER SASUKE is a Medical-Robots from Muscle Corporation. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Helping, Transport. Key figures: 70 kg, 120 kg payload, price ¥998,000, released 2016.

ROBOHELPER SASUKE (model RS1-12Y-B) is Muscle Corporation's robotic transfer-assist device for nursing care, which lifts a person from a bed and seats them in a wheelchair - or back again - much as a carer would carry them in their arms. A thin, strong mesh sheet is first laid under the person in bed; the carer slides SASUKE's two arms through the sheet's edges and, using left and right levers, lifts the person in the sheet, moves away from the bed, tilts them to anything from lying to sitting to match the wheelchair, and lowers them gently into it. The levers can be worked with both hands or switched to a one-hand mode, and the carer can watch the person's face throughout because nothing passes over their body.\nThe sheet supports the whole body and spreads pressure, so transfers are stable and sway-free, and Muscle says it suits people with joint contractures, skin problems or a high risk of dislocation or fracture, and lets one carer do a transfer that would otherwise need two. It handles people up to 120 kg and 140-180 cm tall and works with standard, reclining and tilting wheelchairs and stretchers. The unit weighs 70 kg with its battery, stands up to 151.9 cm at full lift on a 79.4 x 84.2 cm base, and is driven by a 24 V DC 200 W motor that lifts at up to 18 mm/s over a 380 mm stroke and rotates through +/-40 degrees at up to 5 degrees per second, powered by a 25.2 V 5.7 Ah lithium-ion battery that recharges in about 2 to 4 hours. It is certified to ISO 13482, the safety standard for personal care robots. It is not waterproof, but can be used in changing rooms next to a bath. Launched in Japan in 2016, it lists at JPY 998,000, is covered by Japan's long-term care insurance rental scheme (TAIS code 01554-000005) and is sold through dealers.
