DESCRIPTION
Monumental Pisa is an Industrial-Robot from Monumental. It is built for Construction, Material-Handling, Pick-and-place.
Pisa is Monumental's autonomous mason, the main robot in a fleet that lays brick walls on live construction sites. It combines bricklaying and mortar application in one coordinated process using two cranes: Gripper picks up and places each brick with millimetre precision, and Hopper spreads mortar evenly between the courses. Machine vision and Monumental's Atrium software stack, which runs everything from the microcontrollers to the operator UI, let it build facades, varied patterns and custom wall designs without manual intervention. Pisa works with two support robots so the masonry runs continuously: Petra, a brick-supply robot with eight bays that carries up to 128 bricks and feeds them one by one, including mixed types or colours in a programmed sequence; and Panama, which mixes fresh mortar on demand at the right hydration and refills Pisa's hopper. Monumental, founded in Amsterdam in 2021, operates a fleet of more than 100 robots across the Netherlands, the UK and the US and has built walls for more than 100 homes on 40+ projects, plus a school, a hotel and canal quay walls.
