DESCRIPTION

Limb Assist is a Medical-Robots from Subtlebotic. It is built for Rehabilitation. Key figures: 0.5 kg.

Limb Assist is Subtlebotic's soft wearable glove for people who have lost hand function after a stroke, spinal cord injury or other neurological damage. A motor module on the back of the hand pulls tendon cables running to rings on each finger, flexing or extending the fingers so the wearer can grasp and release; the whole assembly weighs under 500 g and is designed to be worn like clothing. The EMG version reads residual muscle activity in the forearm to trigger the motion, while a brain-computer-interface version for users with no usable muscle signal is still in research. Subtlebotic, founded by Sivasanthosh Adaikkalam in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, and incubated at IIT Madras's HTIC MedTech incubator, had the glove in prototype and pilot testing from late 2024 and planned a price of about INR 35,000 to 45,000 for rehabilitation clinics and physiotherapy centres. The company's unpowered mechanical gloves are separate, non-robotic products.
