DESCRIPTION

Gen3 lite is the most compact member of Kinova's ultra-lightweight arm family, positioned as the cost-efficient option for departments that need several professional-grade arms rather than one. It carries 0.5 kg continuously over a 760 mm reach, weighs 5.4 kg, and draws about 20 W, which keeps it usable on battery-powered mobile bases as well as on a bench. The arm is deliberately approachable: Kinova quotes setup in under ten minutes over USB, Ethernet or RNDIS, and the same KORTEX programming carries across to full-size Gen3 units, so student work moves between machines without a rewrite. Both high-level and 1 kHz low-level closed-loop control are exposed, so it suits a first grasping exercise and a controls research project equally. Kinova also publishes a Gen3 lite educational curriculum covering kinematics, trajectory planning and modelling. All Kinova arms run the KINOVA KORTEX API, with support for ROS and ROS 2, MATLAB, C++ and Python, and a browser-based web app for setup and teaching.
