DESCRIPTION

DIGGER D-250 is a Security from Digger Foundation. It is built for Others, Humanitarian mine clearance (remote-controlled tilling and crushing of mines). Key figures: 9790 kg.

The DIGGER D-250 is the Digger Foundation's fourth-generation remote-controlled humanitarian demining machine, designed and built in Switzerland on more than 20 years of experience in 16 countries on four continents. The armoured tracked machine weighs 9,790 kg without a tool and 11,910 kg with its demining tiller, and its front DIGGER Twin-Picks tiller ploughs through the ground at high speed, destroying anti-personnel mines by crushing or detonating them; it was tested by the Swedish Army in CWA 15044 tests against anti-tank mines with up to 8 kg of TNT-equivalent. Depending on conditions it clears 300 to 1,800 m2 per hour, against 5 to 20 m2 per day for a human deminer, and its operator controls it from up to 500 m away. An oscillating track system spreads its weight better than a fixed system for all-terrain work, and a 250 hp John Deere diesel engine with a dedicated cooling system and triple air filtration lets it run at full power in hot, dusty conditions; it has worked in deserts and forests, hot and cold climates, and fits in a 20-foot container. Like a toolbox it takes DIGGER DTR tools (demining tillers or flails), Caterpillar tools, agricultural tools and custom tools - buckets, pushing blades, backhoes, pallet forks, winches, rubber track shoes and high-precision cameras with GPS-RTK - and it conforms to European safety and emission standards for use on other hazardous sites.
