Khepera IV is a compact differential-drive mobile robot from K-Team for indoor lab work such as navigation, swarm robotics, artificial intelligence and demonstrations. It is 14 cm across, weighs 540 g and needs little space, even in swarms. Eight infrared sensors detect obstacles, four more handle fall avoidance or line following, and five ultrasonic sensors give long-range detection. It also has a 752 x 480 camera, two microphones and a speaker, and it runs on a 7.4 V lithium polymer battery. Researchers at EPFL published a performance evaluation and an open-source toolbox for it.
