Sold by the Shenzhen maker as the 'Tosima W2 Variable Frequency Window Cleaner Robot', the W2 belongs to Tosima's line of window cleaners. It holds itself to vertical glass by suction and moves across the pane on its own, wiping as it goes. A brushless motor spinning at 27,000 rpm generates up to 3800 Pa of suction, and the robot raises suction automatically on dirtier glass. Tosima's graphics rate the hold at 1.8 kg of load at 2000 Pa and 3.5 kg at 2900 Pa. Two rotating microfibre pads do the wiping and gather dirt as they turn. One button starts an automatic S-shaped route across four cleaning modes, after which the robot returns to where it started; edge detection finds window frames and obstacles. A 2.4 GHz remote with up to 30 m range steers it manually. Tosima quotes a cleaning speed of 4 minutes per square metre. The W2 runs from mains power through a 4.5 m cable and 1.5 m adapter lead and is tethered with a 5 m safety rope rated to 120 kg. Its 650 mAh backup battery keeps it on the glass and alarming for roughly 25-30 minutes if power fails. It comes in black and white and ships with six sets of microfibre cloths.
