Harmony SHR is Harmonic Bionics' bilateral upper-extremity robotic rehabilitation system: an exoskeleton for both arms that works with the patient's scapulohumeral rhythm (SHR) to enable natural, comprehensive arm and shoulder therapy. Its shoulder mechanism mimics the glenohumeral joint and adds a scapular component, which the company says allows about 85 percent of the shoulder's natural range of motion. As an upper-extremity exercise device it may assist treatment of upper-body movement impairments after neurological injury such as stroke, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disease, post-procedure musculoskeletal rehabilitation and upper-limb prosthetic or transplant rehabilitation. The system supports active and active-assisted range-of-motion exercise and a Bilateral Sync Mode that mirrors the patient's healthy arm movements onto the affected side in real time for robotic-assisted mirror therapy. Motorized sizing adjusts each segment at the touch of a button to fit patients from the 5th-percentile adult female to the 95th-percentile adult male; new patients are typically sized and donned in under 10 minutes and returning patients, whose settings are saved, in under three. Quick-connect patient attachments clip in like a camera on a tripod. The whole system is one unit operated from an attached pendant, sits on three lockable casters for moving between rooms and needs about a 5 x 5 ft space. Harmonic Bionics registered Harmony SHR with the FDA as a Class II 510(k)-exempt device and launched it commercially in April 2023. In 2025 Bioness Medical acquired the assets and business of Harmonic Bionics.
