C@re Robot is a mobile gait-rehabilitation system from Charukesi that lets patients practise real overground walking in a clinic instead of only stepping on a fixed treadmill. The company describes it as a neuro-rehabilitation exoskeleton that assists patients during walking therapy and supports upright posture, weight bearing and natural step patterns. The unit is a wheeled frame that travels with the patient. A body safety harness hangs from a suspension bar on an overhead boom and is clipped on with buckles through D-rings to prevent falls; the 3D suspension system is covered by a U.S. patent. Height-adjustable handrails with emergency-stop buttons sit on either side, and protective skirting keeps the patient's feet clear of the wheels. A treadmill option is also offered, and the platform is modular so it can be reconfigured for different patients and rooms. It is intended for stroke, spinal cord injury (stroke-induced and traumatic) and other locomotor disabilities, with therapists setting the programme. The company says it was researched at NIMHANS in Bengaluru and presented at WCNR and IFNR. ISO 13485 and CDSCO certifications are still in progress; hospitals can choose a lease or an outright purchase.
