Electromechanical Human-Robotic Manipulator's Interface for Upper-Limb Rehabilitation

martti
Jul 23, 2026
This video presents the development of an exoskeleton coupled to the KUKA collaborative robotic manipulator, designed to support upper-limb rehabilitation. The device combines ergonomic 3D-printed components with precise electric actuators to assist movements such as elbow flexion/extension and forearm pronation/supination. It can provide 3 different types of assistance, passive assist, active resist and active assist. The project demonstrates a cost-effective and customisable approach to rehabilitation robotics, aiming to enhance motor recovery and therapy engagement. This work is co-financed by Component 5- Capitalization and Business Innovation of core funding for Technology and Innovation Centres(CTI), integrated in the Resilience Dimension of the Recovery and Resilience Plan within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) of the European Union (EU), framed in the Next Generation EU, for the period 2021- 2026, with reference 21.
