ZUKKU is a Consumer-Robot from Hatapro. It is built for Customer-Service, Guidance, Marketing. Key figures: released 2017.

ZUKKU is Hatapro's palm-sized, owl-shaped AI robot, just 10 cm tall, designed as an inexpensive service robot that can be placed anywhere without special setup. It carries a camera with person-recognition sensing and a communication module: it recognises a visitor's gender, age group and expression and delivers suitable information or advertising by voice in several languages, counts passers-by, and sends data securely to a cloud marketing dashboard. It pairs with a tablet or IoT digital signage to show content and ads, and its dialogue can run on IBM Watson Conversation or Docomo's AI agent API. From 2017 ZUKKU was trialled and deployed in retail and public settings, including Urawa PARCO, Isetan Shinjuku, Yodobashi Camera Akiba, Tsukumo, Autobacs car stores, Sapporo Beer in-store promotions, the Shin-Marunouchi and Marunouchi buildings, a Tokyo Metropolitan Government service-robot trial and Osaka Gas's head-office reception, and was built into an AI robot vending machine trialled at Tokyo Dome City. In 2019 a home version for watching over elderly relatives was launched with Autobacs Seven (WEAR+i), NTT Docomo and NI+C. Hatapro has also used ZUKKU in healthcare: 'ZUKKU for Oral Care', developed with NTT Docomo Kyushu in 2021, runs contact-free oral-function training at home, and won the top prize in NTT Docomo's 5G Solution Idea Contest in February 2020.
