The Xiaopang chess robot is Evolver's Chinese-chess (xiangqi) playing robot, which sits across the board from a person like a human opponent, with selectable playing strength and emotional interaction designed to recreate the fun of a face-to-face game rather than just the engine. It entered volume production in July 2022 and was featured on CCTV. Players choose among nine strength levels; in 2022 Evolver and the Chinese Xiangqi Association organised a ranking series and a national 'Evolver Cup' human-versus-robot challenge in Qingdao, in which players took on level-9 robots, with prizes including the robot's Zhixuan, Master and Premium editions.
