DESCRIPTION
Walden Robotics Walden is a Humanoid from Walden Robotics. It is built for Assembly, General-Automation, Machine-Tending. Key figures: released 2026.
Walden Robotics' general-purpose robot is a wheeled semi-humanoid: an orange-and-white humanoid torso with two arms and a sensor head on a wheeled base (or a fixed platform) rather than legs, a choice CEO Russ Tedrake says keeps it fast, productive and easier to certify for factory safety. The arms carry two-finger grippers and the robot works with ordinary tools such as powered screwdrivers for machine tending, tool setting, parts kitting and assembly alongside people. The robot is driven by Large Behavior Models, a frontier model class built on a decade of Toyota Research Institute work on Diffusion Policy, the Universal Manipulation Interface, OpenVLA and the Drake simulator, trained by imitation learning, simulation and teleoperation; the robots keep learning and improving while they do real production work. Walden builds the full stack of hardware, software and models itself. Robots have run in production at a Toyota plant in North America since February 2026, going from first pilot to production manufacturing and logistics tasks in under two months, and are offered to customers as a 'hire a robot' service with strategic partners in automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, electronics, logistics and life sciences, including a Samsung SDS partnership for high-precision manufacturing.
