DESCRIPTION
SwappBot is an Industrial-Robot from Swapp Design. It is built for Heavy-Item-Handling, Lifting, Navigation.
SwappBot is an autonomous mobile robot from Swapp Design that exchanges the battery of a commercial electric vehicle while the driver stays in the cab. It is the moving part of Swapp's battery-swap station: instead of a pit or underground lifting equipment, the station has a flat floor and the robot does the alignment and lifting itself. A swap runs in three steps. The driver pulls up to the station at any angle without lining up; SwappBot slides under the vehicle, aligns itself to it however it is parked and swaps in a charged battery; the system then runs a full check and a signal turns green so the driver can leave. Swapp OS, the company's scheduling software, chooses which SwappBot to dispatch using grid, battery-health and arrival data, so several vehicles can be served at once. The company states a swap time of about one minute and a throughput of more than 10 vehicles per hour per station, and claims station capital cost about 25 times lower than global peers, batteries about three times smaller and operating cost per kilometre at least 25% lower. The latest public demonstration listed on the site took place at the company's Innovation Studio in Bengaluru in August 2026, with a light truck.
FEATURES
- Autonomous mobile robot that drives under a parked EV and swaps its battery
- Swap time about 1 minute (company figure)
- 10+ EVs swapped per hour per station (company figure)
- Vehicle can stop at any angle
- no precise parking or lining up needed
- Driver stays seated during the swap
- No pit or underground equipment
- station needs only a flat floor
- Robot aligns itself to the vehicle rather than the vehicle to the station
- Multiple SwappBots can serve several vehicles at once
- Full system check after each swap, then a green signal clears the vehicle
- Orchestrated by Swapp OS, which weighs grid load, battery health and vehicle arrivals
- Company claims station capex about 25x lower than global peers
- Company claims vehicles can carry a battery about 3x smaller and still run all day
- Company claims 25%+ lower operating cost per kilometre
- Designed for commercial EVs such as e-buses and light trucks
- Designed and made in India
