Ubica Robotics autonomous retail shelf-scanning robot

DESCRIPTION

Store Scanning Robot is a Mobile-Robots from Ubica Robotics. It is built for Data Collection, Mapping, Inventory.

Ubica Robotics' store-scanning robot is a slim autonomous mobile robot - a round wheeled base with a tall camera mast - that drives through supermarkets and other stores to create a digital twin of the sales floor. It needs no tracks or manual control: it plans its routes dynamically through complex store layouts, scans during opening hours or at night in unlit aisles, and returns to its charging station on its own. Combining LiDAR and image data, it records the precise location of every shelf and product. AI image recognition runs on the robot itself, so only the derived insights - not raw images - leave the store, which keeps bandwidth needs low and data under the retailer's control. The analysis detects out-of-shelf gaps, misplaced products, facing counts and front display, and price-label errors, compares real shelves with the planogram, and gives centimetre-accurate product locations for restocking and click-and-collect picking, plus virtual store tours for head office. Results are delivered through a cloud backend with standard APIs and a use-case app; the robot can also be integrated with a store's alarm system through a patented interface, acting as a sensor without adding new external access points. Ubica says the robots pay off in stores from about 500 m2, and it reported more than 250 robots in live operation in 2025.
