DESCRIPTION
SOLO is a Mobile-Robots from RedZone Robotics. It is built for Data Collection, Mapping, Inspection. Key figures: released 2009.
SOLO is RedZone Robotics' autonomous crawler for inspecting small-diameter sewer pipes, which RedZone calls the world's first truly unmanned robot for small-diameter pipe inspection. Carried to a manhole on foot - so it reaches manholes that vehicle-based CCTV trucks cannot - it is lowered in and launched in about 10-15 minutes, then travels the pipe on its own on a tracked platform, using on-board sensors to progress safely. If it meets a blockage it makes three attempts to get past before returning, and at the end of the pipe it drives back to the launch manhole for collection and redeployment; up to four units can be launched as a 'squad'.\nFront and rear pano-spheric cameras are stitched into a 360-degree video of the pipe interior that viewers can pan, tilt and zoom virtually afterwards, removing operator variability, and data is offloaded over WiFi at the manhole and coded to NASSCO PACP/MACP, WRc or WSSA standards. It works in 8-12 in (200-300 mm) pipes with up to a quarter of water and needs no flow; RedZone says crews average about 4,500 feet of pipe per day with multiple units, six times the throughput of conventional CCTV. SOLO was launched in 2009.
