Heemskerk Innovative Technology ROSE care robot

DESCRIPTION

ROSE is a Medical-Robots from Heemskerk Innovative Technology. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Pick-and-place, Helping.

ROSE is a care robot developed by Heemskerk Innovative Technology to perform simple service tasks in support of clients and care staff in hospitals and care homes, so that care workers can spend more time on nursing. The mobile robot has a single arm for manipulation and navigates autonomously, avoiding obstacles; where autonomy does not suffice it is remotely operated from a cockpit, with a haptic device that feeds forces measured at the robot back to the operator. Care staff can also run it from a smartphone or tablet, and doctors can make visual inspections and talk to clients through their own tablets. Tasks shown in trials include fetching objects from the kitchen, setting the breakfast table, picking up items such as medicine cups or a TV remote from the floor, sorting laundry and taking out rubbish, receiving visitors and guiding them to rooms, night and day ward rounds that supervise clients and alert staff, and social support through games, music, news and video calls with relatives. HIT took over development from Rose B.V. in the SACRO project (2015-2017), tested a new version at the Pieter van Foreest care home in Delft in 2018, and ran COVID-19-era pilots in 2022-2023 at De Zorggroep, St. Marien-Hospital, Broca Living Labs and Badalona hospital. In the SANDRo2 project the ROSE tasks were deployed on PAL Robotics' Omni TIAGo robot. HIT has said development is ongoing.
