DESCRIPTION

Robotic Unloader is an Industrial-Robot from Honeywell. It is built for Loading, Material-Handling, Unloading. Key figures: 34 kg payload, released 2019.

The Honeywell Robotics Robotic Unloader automates unloading of trucks, trailers and shipping containers on the distribution-centre receiving dock, one of the most arduous and injury-prone jobs in a warehouse. It drives into the trailer and uses vision-guided robotics, machine-learning decision making and AI to work out how to clear the load, with no modifications to trailers or containers and no operator on standby; one operator can supervise several machines, and the unloader can move between dock doors. A straddle-arm robot with a vacuum end-of-arm tool pulls cases from the wall while a conveyor sweep system, unscrambler conveyor, nose conveyor and telescoping conveyor carry them out, discharging products in a semi-singulated flow for downstream processes. Dynamic side guides and its operating algorithm minimise jams. It handles individual cases up to 75 lb and multiple cases at once up to 350 lb, from the size of a tissue box up to a washing machine, even in trailers that were not loaded with robots in mind. Automated exception detection alerts operators to unexpected pallets, overweight items and other situations it cannot handle. Since 2019 all Honeywell unloaders have run on the Honeywell Universal Robotics Controller (HURC), developed with Carnegie Mellon University, which lets the robots learn, improve their own performance and share perception and decision-making improvements across machines and sites. Reporting, diagnostics, alerts and optional remote support help prevent problems, and it works as stand-alone automation or as part of an integrated system.
