DESCRIPTION
Renishaw neuromate is a Medical-Robots from Renishaw. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Surgery.
The neuromate is Renishaw's stereotactic robot for neurosurgery: a consistent, accurate and repeatable platform for both therapy delivery and diagnostic procedures. It is used for deep brain stimulation (DBS), neuroendoscopy, stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), biopsies and many other applications that need precise stereotactic delivery, aiming to improve safety and cost-effectiveness and patient outcomes through accurate placement of implantable devices and therapies. A floor-standing base carries the robot arm and the patient head holder. The arm positions a standard tool holder - a universal guide for drills, guide tubes, biopsy needles and catheters - or a laser tool used to check patient registration and mark entry points before surgery, and a handheld remote control keeps the robot's motion in the surgeon's hands; with the endoscopy option the surgeon can navigate the arm within a volume predefined in planning. The robot works with a stereotactic frame via frame attachments, or frameless with the head holder and the neurolocate module, which enables intra-operative CT registration without bone- or skin-anchored fiducials. It is planned and controlled with Renishaw's neuroinspire software. Renishaw cites consistent, rapid and precise targeting, support for the move to minimally invasive procedures, reduced manual manipulation and human error, and compatibility with general and local anaesthesia; surgeons report faster, more accurate SEEG electrode insertion and trajectories impossible with a standard frame. Sterile drapes and an endoscopic instrument holder are available as options.
