On-Stream Tank Inspection Robot

DESCRIPTION
On-Stream Tank Inspection Robot is an Industrial-Robot from Berkeley Springs Instruments. It is built for Inspection, In-service ultrasonic inspection of above-ground storage tank floors.
BSI's on-stream tank inspection robots are intrinsically safe (and non-IS) remotely operated ultrasonic scanners that inspect the floors of above-ground storage tanks while the tank stays in service and full of product - kerosene, diesel, gasoline, selected chemicals, water or wastewater - without taking it out of operation and without personnel entering the tank. They are lowered through inspection manways of 18 inches or more and work in both fixed- and floating-roof tanks, ranging from scanners manoeuvred manually around the floor to multi-sensor remotely operated robots. The robots carry high-density compression-wave ultrasound to measure floor thickness and settlement at the same time, video inspection where the product is optically clear and a precision navigation system, and BSI's API 653-certified inspectors use the data - with 3D LIDAR tank scans - to determine corrosion rate, tank contour and remaining floor life and to plan the optimum time for a full out-of-service inspection. BSI and its affiliates say they have inspected thousands of tanks worldwide in service.
