DESCRIPTION
NaoTrac is Brain Navi Biotechnology's neurosurgical navigation robot, built around the company's Surface Mapping Auto-Registration Technology (SMART). SMART combines machine vision, robotics and AI to perform non-contact, frameless registration, aligning the patient's anatomy with preoperative imaging in seconds and removing the fiducial markers and head frames that conventional stereotactic workflows depend on. In use, the robotic arm positions surgical instruments along a trajectory the surgeon has planned, while the surgeon stays in control of the procedure itself. It supports a wide range of neurosurgical interventions including biopsies, tumour ablations, endoscopic procedures, external ventricular drain placement, stereoelectroencephalography and deep brain stimulation. Brain Navi was founded in Taiwan in 2015 by surgeon Jerry Chen. NaoTrac holds Taiwan FDA approval and the European CE Mark, and received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance as a stereotaxic guiding surgical device in June 2025.
