The Merlin 2+ is Fullwood's automatic milking robot for dairy cows and the successor to the M2erlin, which it replaces from late 2026 (the M2erlin stays available until the first quarter of 2027). Cows enter an open, full stainless-steel box where a whisper-quiet, fully electric robot arm, guided by a 3D camera, attaches the cups and can re-attach the rear teats without removing the front ones. Fullwood's Streampulse milking technology keeps milk flowing longer with less vacuum on the teat, and the company says about 60 % of the yield comes in the first two minutes. A twin-entry, twin-exit design lets cows walk in straight or from the side and leave straight ahead or sideways, with a tilting feed trough, so the box doubles as a compact separation unit and fits Tandem or Checkout set-ups; several robots can run as a Merlin Meridian group for batch milking. Standard equipment includes an ICAR-approved milk meter, per-quarter mastitis detection, a feed motor, a 3-bucket milk separation unit and FULLSENSE software and app, with options such as the FullLab milk-condition sensor, FullCount cell counting, milk sampler, extra feed motors and Afimilk collar or tag cow ID. The 1,200 kg machine measures about 3.54 x 2.28 x 2.15 m and uses 0.015-0.020 kWh of energy per kg of milk; compared with the M2erlin it is more compact, with two small doors instead of one large one, simpler controls and fewer wear parts, and it is backward compatible with earlier Merlin robots on the same farm.
