DESCRIPTION
Link 6 is Kinova's industrial collaborative arm, and the company presents it as the first industrial robot designed and built in Canada. It handles 6 kg at full range measured 200 mm from the wrist, reaches 1000 mm, moves at up to 1.65 m/s and weighs 23.45 kg with its five-metre cable. It runs from ordinary mains power at 110-240 VAC. The design puts the interface on the arm itself. Power and data feed through to the wrist, so an end effector connects without cable runs down the arm; buttons on the wrist handle hand-guiding and position snapshots; and a coloured ring annunciator shows operating state at a glance. An integrated force-torque sensor supports contact-sensitive assembly. Kinova ships software support for Robotiq and OnRobot end effectors rather than requiring integration work. Programming is drag-and-drop through KINOVA KORTEX, from a touchscreen teach pendant or a desktop browser, and Kinova states no prior programming experience is required. The controller runs an Intel Core i7 with 8 GB DDR4 and a 128 GB SSD, and hosts third-party plugins in a sandbox separate from its safety core so an added plugin cannot compromise safe operation.
